In the mid-1950s, the dance recital costume industry was just developing. Dance studios often depended upon their own resources to create costuming for performances and recitals. Jane Vella Cicci saw an opportunity. As a dancer and dance teacher, she understood the need for creative, high-quality costuming. She began designing for her own schools and for those of a small group of family and friends. Soon, her designs began attracting outside attention. Jane gave up teaching to devote her energies full-time to designing and manufacturing dance costumes. Joined by her husband, Jane made a commitment to creative and innovative designs, high-quality, and personal relationships with customers.

Cicci Dance Supplies remains committed to those core values while adapting to a rapidly changing marketplace. The second generation to lead the company has expanded its production facilities, integrated new production and customer service technologies, introduced innovative designs and fabrications, and been an active advocate for theater and dance. Although the company’s reach has expanded well beyond its early days, personal relationships with customers and industry colleagues are as important today as they were in 1955.
